Mechanical Assembler

Reports to: Assembly Supervisor

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

To build tailored custom equipment to exceed customer’s expectations. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to read and understand established basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and written guidelines to accurately assemble machinery.
  • Have a passion for building machines accurately and feel a sense of pride in your accomplishment with the completed project.
  • Accurately assemble or modify parts and equipment following engineering specifications.
  • Perform complex assembly operations on tailored units and sub-assemblies.
  • Ability to properly document the build production to communicate the progress and status of the build.
  • Professionally work together in partnership with engineering and materials to troubleshoot any design issues or missing materials during the build, listening, and asking questions to confirm understanding of resolution for all involved.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with a team as well as minimum supervision to meet manufacturing schedule and willingness to lend a hand to anyone needing assistance.
  • Strive to exceed goals for yourself and team members by continuously improving on processes, tools used, or approaches to constantly help tailor quality equipment for our customers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee frequently works with wiring and cabling. The work environment temperatures may fluctuate from hot to cold depending on the season. Depending on customer schedules, the department may prove to be at a very fast-paced and stressful level. The noise level is moderate.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand while building the machine. The employee will be expected to use their hands to handle parts and tools and to climb and/or balance. The employee may need to walk to other Assembly Bays, reach with arms, bend,
crouch, sit on the floor, kneel, climb, talk, and hear.

The employee will often lift, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will need vision to see close, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Overtime work when required by shipping schedules.

SKILLS:

  • Basic understanding of mechanical skills. Have the desire to learn from others or classes to further reach your potential.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and skills for accurately utilizing pneumatic tools.
  • High attention to detail is a must to accurately and safely complete building parts and equipment.
  • Excellent written, verbal and reading skills to accurately read directions and to professionally verbalize discrepancies and ask for assistance.
  • Well organized with the ability to manage time for completing equipment builds by the deadline or surpassing the deadline.
  • Enthusiastically starts projects and willing to lend a hand to any team member when assistance is needed.
  • Basic computer skills are needed, working with MS applications. 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1–2 years mechanical/electrical assembly experience preferred
