Robotics Engineer

Reports to: Robotics & Controls Engineering Manager

FLSA Status: Full Time, Salary-Exempt

SUMMARY:

The Robotics Engineer will play a key role as an engineering & technical resource supporting pre-sale, design, programming, commissioning, and service of Robotic OEM equipment. Your work will be crucial in accelerating the development process, optimizing robotic designs, and ensuring robustness and reliability for our customer deployments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Applications:

  • Generate simulations utilizing Fanuc Roboguide software.
  • Own project simulation and foundations for developing a trustworthy robotic cell.
  • Provide feedback on acceptable reach, rate and duty cycle of each Robotic System
  • Provide feedback on validity of conveyance system layouts.
  • Document solutions and developmental findings.
  • Communicate with all departments for required information.

Engineering:

  • Develop custom tools or applications to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of robotic systems
  • Develop off-line TP programs to be used for current robotic system builds and future builds.
  • Teaching Fanuc Robot frames, positions, I/O, Communications
  • Create flexible solutions for robotic systems.
  • Integrate single & multiple Robots into a complete system.
  • Ability to teach, train other team members and customers on Robotic solutions.
  • Evaluates the efficiency and reliability of industrial robotic systems; reprograms, calibrates, or makes recommendations for enhancements to achieve maximum quantity and quality.
  • Create and help develop consistent programming standards.

Service:

  • Travel will be required to attend customer sites for application verification and field commissioning.
  • Identifies problems and issues in robotic systems, communicating with robotics engineers, specialists, or other staff to diagnose and understand issues.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs or corrects problems, which may include repairs and revisions to hardware (disassembly and reassembly of robots and peripheral equipment) and software (investigation of programming code for mistakes).
  • Performs preventive and curative maintenance on robotic systems and components.

Development:

  • Be an ongoing source of Mentorship and trainer for our junior engineers for a strong and passionate robotics engineering department.

  • Collaborate with teams to help integrate Robotics into successful automation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office and manufacturing setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit at a desk. Standing and walking to different departments will be required.   The employee will need vision to see close, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, talk, hear and listen.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Some weekends, Extended hours, and travel may be required

SKILLS:

  • Proficiency with Fanuc Roboguide
  • Strong ability to program, test and debug Fanuc Robots
  • Experience in AutoCAD preferred but not required
  • 3D Modeling Software a plus
  • Understanding of PLC’s VFD’s and HMI’s
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and Critical thinking skills

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Robotics/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent education and work experience
  • Minimum 3 Years experience working with Fanuc robotics.
  • Demonstrated experience with simulation frameworks and applying simulations to expedite real robot development
  • Packaging / Palletizing Automation experience a plus
