
Robotics Technician
Reports to: Robotics & Controls Engineering Manager
FLSA Status: Full Time, Salary-Exempt
SUMMARY:
The Robotics Technician will design and maintain automated robotic systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identifies problems and issues in robotic systems, communicating with robotics engineers, specialists, or other staff to diagnose and understand issues.
- Troubleshoots and repairs or corrects problems, which may include repairs and revisions
to hardware (disassembly and reassembly of robots and peripheral equipment) and software (investigation of programming code for mistakes). - Installs, programs, reprograms, and repairs and maintains robots and equipment such as controllers, end-of-arm tooling, and conveyors.
- Uses tools, templates, microscopes, and fixtures to align, fit, or assemble components.
- Uses tools such as electronic voltmeters and oscilloscopes to test the performance of robotic assemblies, documents procedures and test results.
- Evaluates the efficiency and reliability of industrial robotic systems; reprograms, calibrates, or makes recommendations for enhancements to achieve maximum quantity and quality.
- Performs preventive and curative maintenance on robotic systems and components.
- Maintains service records for automated production systems and robotic equipment.
- Assists engineers with design, configuration, and robotic systems applications.
- Inspects installation sites and installs robotic systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time. Standing and walking to different departments will be required. The employee will need vision to see close, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, talk, hear and listen while working on the shop floor with team members or collaborating with the customer and lift up to 15 lbs. at a time.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of mechanical repair, computer programming, and electric circuit design.
- Basic understanding of programming code used to control devices.
- Thorough understanding of diagnostic and repair tools, including oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers and electronics schematics.
- Thorough understanding of theoretical approaches to robotics engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete logs and reports.
Education and Experience:
- Vocational or Associate‘s degree in related field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least one year of related experience or apprenticeship required.
